Datawake is a consultancy in Fullerton, California. We help nonprofits, schools and mission-driven organizations reach their goals with clean data and systems their teams can use.
Founder
How I got here
I've worked with nonprofits my whole career. I started as a program manager and moved into finance. As a finance manager at a large nonprofit, I ended up holding all of the fundraising team's data, and that didn't make sense to me.
It got me thinking about what good systems could do for an organization: share data across the team, make everyday practices consistent, give staff what they need to do their jobs well and get more people involved in the work.
That question turned into my career. For 10 years I've done systems, data and CRM (customer relationship management) work for nonprofits, mostly in Salesforce. Every project starts the same way, with what the organization is trying to accomplish. The tools come after that. It's still the work I love most.
